West Montrose Bridge

West Montrose Bridge
The West Montrose covered bridge, located in the township of Woolwich, was designed and constructed by local contractor John Bear with help from his brother in 1881. As Ontario’s only remaining covered bridge, the township has designated the property as being of cultural heritage value and the Ministry of Culture has added it to the Ontario Bridge List.
Moses Structural Engineers prepared detailed documentation of the existing layout, member sizes, connections, and condition of the structure — including a non-destructive assessment of existing timber elements. We continue to support the Region of Waterloo in its efforts to maintain this historic bridge for years to come.
