Scarborough Gardens Arena
Scarborough Gardens Arena is a major arena revitalization project involving the assessment, redevelopment, and reconstruction of an existing community recreation facility.
The original 1950s arena featured 115-foot-span bowstring heavy timber trusses. Moses Structural Engineers assessed the existing trusses and designed the structure for current City of Toronto snow load requirements.
Moses Structural Engineers provided structural design services for the renovation and new construction. The new facility incorporates modern mass timber long-span trusses, a solar PV system on the roof, general building renovations and upgrades, and new precast concrete bleachers for the rink.
Client: City of Toronto
