Ontario’s first retail store built from CLT – assembled from 156 panels, to be precise – opened its doors in Ottawa. The Playvalue Toys building is 28,000 sq.ft. and boasts 28-foot-high ceilings. We created a hybrid design, mixing open-web steel joists with solid wood panels. Connections are concealed, leaving clean wood surfaces from floor to ceiling. This unprecedented project used an efficient wood tilt-up wall system to speed installation. The entire building was designed and built in one year.
