Moses Structural Engineers is excited to announce that the Rouge National Urban Park (RNUP) Visitor, Learning, and Community Centre has been claimed the gold winner in this year’s Global Future Design Awards.
The RNUP is the largest urban park in North America that spreads across areas into Toronto, Durham, Markham, Uxbridge, and even connects to Greenbelt to Lake Ontario. This land has a deep history with indigenous heritage and 12,000 acres of beautiful greenspace.
With its graceful mass timber and steel structure, along with its floor to ceiling windows, charred wood paneling, and interesting spatial composition, the RNUP Visitor, Learning, and Community Centre creates an environment that complements park while seamlessly integrating itself with its surrounding park landscapes. It provides a beautiful opportunity for visitors to learn about and celebrate the many cultural, agricultural, and Indigenous stories of the land, strengthen their sense of community, and enjoy the food, gift shop, and various programs that may be available.
