TimberFever 2026 brought architecture and engineering students from across the country together at Toronto Metropolitan University for four intensive days of collaboration, design, and hands-on construction. Working in multidisciplinary teams, participants took this year’s Pollinator Landing challenge from an initial concept to a full-scale timber structure.
This year’s design brief asked teams to explore how small-scale urban structures could support pollinators while creating spaces for people to gather, connect, and engage with their surroundings. The challenge encouraged students to think beyond the structure itself, considering biodiversity, food security, material use, constructability, and the role design can play in creating healthier urban environments.
Over the course of the event, students worked alongside industry mentors, sponsors, and volunteers to develop their ideas, solve challenges as they emerged, and ultimately bring their designs to life. The result is a collection of distinct structures, each offering its own interpretation of the Pollinator Landing brief.
TimberFever was founded by Moses Structural Engineers 12 years ago to give architecture and engineering students the opportunity to work together in a fast-paced, hands-on design-build environment. The event bridges the gap between classroom learning and construction by asking participants to collaborate across disciplines, make real-time design decisions, and experience firsthand what it takes to turn an idea into a built structure.
